Red White Blue Ice Cubes (Printable)

Patriotic layered fruit ice cubes: blueberries, coconut and strawberries frozen in juices for colorful summer drinks.

# Ingredient List:

→ Fruit

01 - 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
02 - 1/2 cup strawberries, hulled and chopped
03 - 1/2 cup fresh coconut meat or unsweetened shredded coconut

→ Liquids

04 - 1 cup coconut water
05 - 1 cup natural blueberry juice
06 - 1 cup natural strawberry juice or cranberry juice

# Steps:

01 - Clean all fruit thoroughly. Hull and chop strawberries, and ensure blueberries and coconut meat or shredded coconut are ready for use.
02 - Fill one-third of each compartment in the ice cube tray with blueberries, then pour just enough blueberry juice to cover the berries. Place in the freezer until solid, about 1 hour.
03 - Once the blue layer is solid, add a layer of coconut meat or a sprinkle of shredded coconut to each compartment. Pour coconut water over the coconut to fill the next third. Freeze again for approximately 1 hour until firm.
04 - Top each compartment with chopped strawberries and fill to the top with strawberry or cranberry juice. Freeze until completely solid, around 2 additional hours.
05 - Once fully frozen, remove the ice cubes from the tray. Serve in lemonade, sparkling water, or cocktails for a festive presentation.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • Each ice cube bursts with fruity flavor as it melts—imagine your lemonade transforming sip by sip.
  • Customizing the layers is unexpectedly fun and turns every drink into a small celebration.
02 -
  • Patience between layers is essential—rushing will blur the colors and muddy the stripes.
  • Swapping coconut for regular milk gives creamy white cubes but changes the freeze and flavor more than you’d guess.
03 -
  • Pick silicone trays for the easiest release—plastic can sometimes cling too tightly to the coconut layer.
  • Lay trays flat and undisturbed in the freezer for crisp, even lines every time.
